14th Street

This house was located on the Dial Road, around the corner from where the old cotton compress used to be. Norma Jo Simmons Nichols reports that her grandfather William Henry Simmons purchased this home and 16.5 acres in 1900 for $2000 shortly before his second marriage in 1902. "Through the years most of his children returned to live in this home." Portions of the house were eventually converted to rentals. The house was demolished prior to 1973.
